SHIELD EXTEND
The CEL-FI by Nextivity SHIELD EXTEND revolutionizes what it takes to install an Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement System (ERCES), designed to streamline public safety coverage deployments. With advanced automation and digital architecture, SHIELD EXTEND reduces installation time, lowers costs, and increases confidence in passing AHJ inspections on the first attempt.
Supporting both Class A and Class B configurations, SHIELD EXTEND delivers reliable in-building coverage for LMR 700/800 MHz and FirstNet Band 14, ensuring public safety personnel have uninterrupted communication during emergencies. Its scalable, PoE-based design makes it ideal for enterprise environments, multi-building campuses, and high-rise facilities.
Features
- Class A and Class B configuration flexibility.
- Reliable coverage for LMR 700/800 MHz and FirstNet Band 14.
- Scalable Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) architecture for enterprise-grade deployments.
- Nextivity IntelliBoost® software automates system parameters—eliminating manual calculations and testing.
- End-to-end remote system monitoring and management via the WAVE Portal.
- Fiber expansion options for large buildings and campuses.
Removing the Guesswork
At the core of SHIELD EXTEND is Nextivity’s IntelliBoost® software, which automates system setup and ongoing optimization in ways no other ERCES can. By automatically calculating, setting, and monitoring system parameters, SHIELD EXTEND ensures faster installations with greater confidence of first-pass AHJ approval.
Automated Functions Include:
- Real-time monitoring of environmental conditions and automatic adjustments.
- Automatic calculation of path loss and gain settings for both uplink and downlink.
- Real-time isolation calculation set at 20 dB per NFPA 1221 (with local ordinance flexibility).
- Self-optimizing adjustments to maintain compliance and consistent performance.
System Components
Management Unit
Model Number: F40-0E
The Management Unit is the central control point. It distributes power from the Battery Backup Unit, manages system performance, and oversees the Network Unit, Coverage Units, and accessories. Performance data is accessible via the WAVE Portal or WAVE PRO app.
Network Unit
Model Number (Class A): F42-67ENU
Model Number (Class B): F42-67ENUB
The Network Unit digitizes and processes off-air donor signals for LMR and FirstNet. With dual donor ports, it distributes signals to Coverage Units and can power up to six CUs via PoE.
Coverage Unit
Model Number (Class A): F41-8XCU
Model Number (Class B): F41-8XCUB
Coverage Units rebroadcast donor signals through local service antennas. They are self-configuring and self-optimizing, enabling rapid deployment and certification.
SHIELD EXTEND Battery Backup Unit
Model Number: F43-00
The Battery Backup Unit (BBU) provides continuous DC power and battery charging. In case of power failure, it keeps SHIELD EXTEND operational for up to 12 hours. It is NEMA 4 rated, UL 2524 listed, and supports four 12-volt lead-acid batteries.
SHIELD EXTEND Fiber Range Extender (Optional)
Model Number (NU Side): F40-0XNU
Model Number (CU Side): F40-0XCU
Ideal for campuses, multi-building facilities, and high-rises, the Fiber Range Extender increases the distance between the NU and CU by up to one mile. FREs are deployed in pairs and support copper cabling to power remote CUs. Each kit includes two units (NU and CU side) and supports up to two CUs.
